In a Reggio Emilia-inspired program, the environment is considered to be a teacher to each child. Our natural playground has been carefully designed to facilitate imaginative play, cooperative relationships and vigorous physical stimulation.
Natural Playground & Outdoor Learning
The playground is made of natural elements like trees, stumps, logs, boulders, water, plants, ropes, bridges, treehouses, mud and sand. These natural elements aid in fine and gross motor skills and provide unlimited sensory experiences, and creative, unstructured play opportunities.
In our natural play space, children are able to learn about both the joy and science of nature on a daily basis. The playground is a certified Wildlife Habitat!
To support outdoor learning BHCP has built an outdoor STEAM* learning studio in our backyard!
Teaching STEAM with our emergent curriculum approach fosters and builds connections between science, technology, engineering, art and math as well as many other skills like language, literacy and social-emotional skills.
We provide support and scaffolding to help children investigate a topic of their interest. Using inquiry-based scientific exploration, children can think and discover through trial and error and repeated experimentation.
*STEAM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
