Wonders result when parents become involved with the school and its exceptional staff. BHCP has been a cooperative preschool since its inception in 1939, and we place a very high value on community.
Many of the returning families are active participants and have experienced first-hand the powerful combination of parents and teachers working together to build a community for our children. We hope you take the opportunity to become actively involved in your child’s education … right from the start!
BHCP not only values parent involvement, but our operations depend upon it. We ask each family to co-op in their child’s classroom, participate in the maintenance of our school and playground, join one of our many committees (Board of Directors, Development, Educational Advisory, Business Operations, Maintenance), and attend three (3) mandatory parent events held throughout the school year. Such active involvement is an excellent way to meet other parents and to share your interest and talents with our community.
Enrollment – How to Apply to BHCP
BHCP is a unique preschool. Our Reggio-Emilia inspired curriculum and high level of parent involvement set us apart from other area preschools. In order that families fully understand BHCP’s educational philosophy and parental commitments, we require that parents attend either a school tour or our Open House in order to receive an application.
Enrollment is conducted by lottery. We grant priority in admissions to siblings of current and former students, members of the Beverley Hills Community United Methodist Church, children of BHCP alumni, and children of our staff. We strive to reflect the diversity of our community in our school population and encourage applications from all who are committed to our educational approach and co-operative nature of our preschool.
Our enrollment lottery is held in late January, and families are notified of lottery results by early February. We maintain our wait-lists through January of the following school year, should we have an opening mid-year. Families who were not offered placement must re-apply each year.
We realize that the cost of private preschool can be a daunting expense for many families. We are proud to offer financial assistance on an annual basis to families with demonstrated financial needs. BHCP will be attending the annual Preschool Fair hosted by the MOMs Club of Alexandria on Tuesday, October 18th from 8:30 to 12pm at First Baptist Church, 2932 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302

Our two Parent Tours are an excellent opportunity for prospective parents to tour the school while school is in session. We ask that children, other than infants, do not attend our Parent tours. Please either call the school at 703.549.7441 or email our Membership Chairs at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a space for one of our Parent Tours, as we have limited spaces available.
Saturday, January 21st, 2017 from 9am to 11am (Snow date is schedule on January 28th, 2017)
No reservation is needed for our open house. The open house is for prospective parents to come learn about our program, tour our school, and meet teachers and parents. We respectfully request that children, other than infants, do not attend our open house.
Applications for the 2017-18 school year will be handed out at the open house and school tours.
Returning families with siblings of children who previously attended BHCP have priority for enrollment after siblings of current BHCP students. Please contact email@example.com for an application, which must be received, with the $75 application fee. Late applications will not be accepted. The application deadline is January 28, 2017.
